ClassicGlory - Sunbeam S7 & S8 Owners Register
FAQ for the Email Group
Points to note:
The email group is operated on software and servers operated by www.yahoo.com.
1/. What is the ClassicGlory email group?
The Classicglory email group is a forum to discuss any aspect of buying, riding and owning a Sunbeam S7 or S8 motorcycle via email. When a message is sent it is received by all the other members of the group who are then free to reply or comment on its content, which they may do publicly on the group (sometimes referred to as 'List') or privately directly to your own email address. Email group members may discuss any motorcycle related topic and they may also advertise tools, literature, spares and motorcycles they wish to sell or purchase. The main website also has a 'Classifieds' page for this. The advantage of the group is that all 'members' receive the advert (or request for help and information) as soon as they download their email, without having to go to the website and check. The email group replaces the traditional club magazine because we are constantly 'in-touch' with each other and do not have to wait 1 or 2 months for the publication to drop through the letterbox... which is really handy if your gearbox is in pieces on the kitchen table and you need help now! :-)
From time to time Classicglory has things to offer its membership... These maybe remanufactured spares, upgraded parts or just T-shirts and literature ect. We always offer these items to the email group membership first. Some parts are never offered on the main website.
Simply put... The email group is the Heart of the club.
2/. How much does it cost me?
Membership of the register and the email group is totally free!
3/. What's the difference between the email group and the International Owners Register?
The International Sunbeam Owners Register is where owners and enthusiasts from around the world can list their machines alongside fellow 'Beamers'. This also means that members and potential members can search the register for owners in their area and make contact should they wish too. Only very brief location information is given and your address is not revealed or even stored by ClassicGlory. If you are asked for any information on the joining form that you'd rather not give then leave it blank and send it to us anyway. We do however need a Name, Country and Email Address as a minimum.
Registered owners and enthusiasts are considered 'Members' of ClassicGlory whereas subscribers to the email group are considered group members... Most people fall into both camps.
4/. Do I have to join the register to join the email group?
No.
5/. Can I join if I do not own a Sunbeam?
Yes, you do not even need to own or be able to ride a motorcycle. Partners, enthusiasts and potential owners are most welcome to join either the Register or the Email group.
6/. How do I join the group?
To 'Subscribe' to the list send an e-mail to: classicglory-subscribe@yahoogroups.com OR
Apply for membership of the International Sunbeam S7 & S8 Owners Register and you will automatically be subscribed to the email group.
7/. How do I send messages to the group?
To send a message to the list, send your e-mail to: classicglory@yahoogroups.com and it will automatically be redirected to everyone in the group.
8/. I receive too many messages What can I do?
The Email group can operate in two main modes these are:-
'Individual Emails' - This is set by default and subscribers will receive individual copies of every email sent to the group. This may cause excessive emails to some users (maybe it's an employers mailbox). Please do not think that you have to 'un-subscribe' if this is the case... read on....
'Digest Mode' - In this mode, a single email containing copies of each days postings will be sent to the user. This is the recommended setting for users who feel that the traffic caused by 'Individual Email Mode' is excessive.
To change between these modes you can either go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/classicglory/ and alter your own settings or email us at: sunbeams@classicglory.com with your request and we will do the work for you.
9/. How do I change the email address my group mail gets delivered to?
Yahoo E-groups doesn't really cater for this however there are three ways to achieve the desired result...
Using your original email account send an email to: classicglory-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com then using your new account send an email to: classicglory-subscribe@yahoogroups.com OR
Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/classicglory/ and delete your account details and then re-add them OR
(Recommended) - Send us an email with any detail changes to: sunbeams@classicglory.comand let us do the work for you.
10/. I get lots of Spam (Unwanted) email... Is it because I joined the register \ email group?
It is unlikely you will receive any commercial Spam due to your memberships with Classicglory and Yahoo E-Groups. We do not provide information to any third party (other than Sunbeam owners and enthusiasts) and neither do Yahoo. To find your email details on the Classicglory website a manual search has to be made as no permanent listings are kept. This is beyond the scope of most web spiders.
11/. I am going on holiday... Can I pause my group membership until I return?
It is possible to set your email group account to one further mode 'No Email', this is so that you can temporarily stop email being sent to your mailbox without un-subscribing. To achieve this you can either go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/classicglory/ and alter your own details OR
Send an email to us at: sunbeams@classicglory.com detailing the change and we will do the work for you.
12/. I have sold my Sunbeam and want to leave the group how do I do it?
To 'Un-Subscribe' from the list send an e-mail to: classicglory-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com we will or course be sorry to lose you. You could of course always stay as an Enthusiast member.
